Well we have just come back from a two week holiday, which meant that we didn't go out to the horses at the yard. When we did get back to the yard there was a lot to do like; the muck heap, the beds in the stables, the yard, the outdoor school and taking the horses in. The first day we went back was crap as all we really did was tidy up the yard, we never got to ride as the third and second years all rode and there wasn't any horses that were dry enough from sweating to ride, so we had to lunge instead!! :( FUN!
The muck heap was messy as anything! All the bedding and droppings and the rest of the stuff was just piled up ontop of everything, even though we tidied it up before we left and with making a ramp it wasn't getting used that way it was just getting piled up at the bottom. When we did tidy it up we curved it slightly at the bottom, making it look neater and we tidied the ramp so its accesible.
At the yard we have been split up into groups, each group has a number of tasks on the yard to do. The group I am in is the second group which deals with all the beds on the side that the water tap is on. Yesterday we got showed how to put the beds up the way the tutors would prefer, it was Allistair that was showing us. He told us that we dont need hing banks against the walls and that the beds should be brought further forward as there are big horses in the yard and they like their space. The other job that my group does is sweeping the big yard wich can be a bit of a pain if there is only a couple of people doing it.
